T-Mobile Flyer Hypes G2 Gingerbread Update “Coming Soon”

Since last month, we’ve been expecting an update to T-Mobile’s G2 to arrive this summer, bringing the phone an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. That’s great news for G2 owners who would rather be running a stock ROM than an unofficial Gingerbread build, but summer’s still a bit of a ways off, and the wording of the rumor meant that we might not see the update until September. Then, a couple weeks back, a leaked test ROM became available, making it seem that T-Mobile might be preparing to release the update sooner, rather than later. That trend continues today, with a leaked promotional flyer showing T-Mobile advertising the soon-to-arrive Gingerbread update.

Sadly, there’s no date information on the leaked document suggesting either when T-Mobile plans to start using it for promotion, or when the update itself may arrive. The present tense used, though, “Google gets Gingerbread love”, suggests that the update should be coming out in very close proximity to when the flyer is first used in public. We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, but since this looks completed and professional, ready to go, it doesn’t seem out of the range of possibility that T-Mobile could release the flyer in the next few weeks and have Gingerbread for the G2 going out OTA by late June.
