Verizon Puts The Brakes on HTC Thunderbolt Update
Late last week we caught wind of Verizon preparing an update for the HTC Thunderbolt, designed to improve 3G performance, fixing some bugs, and correcting some anomalies with its GPS receiver. At the time, it looked like the update was ready to go out ASAP. After a lull of a few days, yesterday Verizon tweeted that it was starting to deliver the update to its subscribers, going out to Thunderbolt owners in stages. Alas, a wrench has been thrown in the works, and Verizon has put distribution of the update on hold for the time being.
A leaked Verizon screenshot tells the tale, directing employees who are faced with confused Thunderbolt owners, wondering where their updates are, to check out the company’s Thunderbolt support page. Unfortunately, there’s no updated information yet available there. So for now, we’re left guessing as to what went wrong, and when it might be fixed. There’s some speculation that we could be looking at more ripples from all the recent LTE issues Verizon’s been having; it really wouldn’t surprise us. Has Verizon maybe gotten in a bit over its head with a premature LTE launch?
Look for more news on this delay, as well as hopefully a new Droid Charge launch date, to come from Verizon shortly.
