More Than 200K Samsung Galaxy S II Pre-Ordered in Korea

More than 200,000 people have pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S II between last Monday, April 25 and the date of its launch on Friday, April 29, in Korea with more than 160,000 pre-orders counted for the largest operator SK Telecom.

The difference goes to the other two carriers and, as a comparison — even though not a fair one — the iPhone 4 was pre-ordered back in August 2010 more than 110,000 times but the Apple smartphone was only present on KT network, adding SK Telecom in March 2011.

The Samsung Galaxy S II was pre-ordered 10,000 times in the first 29 minutes and more than doubled at the 64 minutes mark. This could be an initial indication of a success to come but the numbers aren’t anything an iPhone 5 couldn’t match when it will launch in Korea. Also, it is somewhat normal for high interest in its domestic market but we’ll have to wait for global numbers in order to have a general idea about the Galaxy S II’s success. How do you think it will be welcomed in the U.S.?
