There were rumors about RIM jumping from BlackBerry OS version number 6.1 to 7 but today, with the occasion of launching the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones, RIM made BlackBerry OS 7 official.

The aforementioned smartphone variants will be the ones bringing BlackBerry OS 7 to the masses. The new platform should bring an easier and faster user interface, universal voice searches for local and web-related content and an enhanced browser with JIT JavaScript compiler and HTML5 Video support. And if you think your personal and business life can’t fit on a single smartphone, BlackBerry OS 7 adds BlackBerry Balance to separate those to aspects of your life.
