Telstra Australia To Deliver Windows Phone 7 NoDo Updates in May

Whether Microsoft naming the Windows Phone 7 NoDo update the “March Update” is bad or carriers are doing a lousy job approving updates is subject to debate but the roll-out process shouldn’t take that long to reach smartphones worldwide.

Telstra Australia has just approved the Windows Phone 7 “March Update” for the HTC 7 Mozart and is “awaiting Microsoft release via Zune”. That being said, the update is to be expected early May but HTC HD7 and LG Optimus 7Q (Quantum in the US) users aren’t that lucky. According to Telstra’s status, the software is still being tested by the carrier and is expected to roll-out in May (yes, we’re talking about the March update, you do the math).

Microsoft and carriers definitely need to improve their reaction and testing time when it comes to updating the new platform and Redmond could come up with a better naming convention for platform refreshes as obviously the March update being delivered in May could be a deal breaker for many.

Erratum: The HTC HD7 was launched on Telstra at the end of March and ships with NoDo on board. The update the carrier is testing and that will reportedly hit in May could be an HTC update or a site error. Thanks Ozhuski!
