Cable News Network (CNN) has released a free client for owners of Google Android powered smartphones that is now available to download from the Android Market.

The application allows you to access news, watch live video and iReport from your Android phone. “Android users are extremely discerning and will accept nothing less than a first-rate app that showcases high quality, world-class content — and enables them to share it,” said Louis Gump, vice president of mobile technology at CNN.

CNN for Android also allows users to share text and pictures via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter and is a great way to keep up with the latest news and developments while you are on the go with any Google Android-powered smartphone.
