Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Coming To USA This Summer

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Arc is currently popping up all around the world, with unlocked European versions out now and a Canadian release coming soon. Despite how ubiquitous the phone seems, we’d yet to hear any good information on when we could hope to see it in the US. Now we have something that’s seemingly official, and while it doesn’t narrow things down much, it looks like the Arc will come to the US this summer.

While it will have a solid 1GHz processor under the hood, the Arc may end up known more for its looks than its power, with a sub-9mm depth and big screen using Sony’s Reality Display technology.

Rikard Skogberg of the SE Product Blog responded to user questions about the Arc’s availability in the US, saying, “I just got something from my US colleagues and the current plan is to have an “a”-variant available at retailers this summer. This version will be optimized for use in the US (GSM/UMTS). I’ll keep you posted as I get more details.” While non-committal, and apparently open to change, at least this gives us a starting point for when to expect the Android smartphone.
