Samsung Not Locking Future Device Bootloaders Say Rumors

Sony Ericsson took the right path when it decided to unlock the bootloaders of its new Xperia models — and only those — and similarly, maybe even upping the ante, rumor has it that Samsung will not lock down future devices.

Nothing official at the moment but according to François Simond’s tweet (aka project-voodoo’s Supercurio), Samsung will not use “locked bootloaders on future devices unless if Google would require it specifically“. Chances are rather thin El Goog would “require it specifically” so it’s good to know, even if it’s at a rumor level for the moment, that the Korean manufacturer chose this path for its future devices.
