LG Optimus Black: When Will It Arrive?
Besides the Revolution, LG had its Optimus Black to show off back at this year’s CES in January. While we’ve been seeing the Revolution pop up all over, the Black’s been keeping a comparatively low profile. The super-thin Android was targeted for release in the first half of 2011, and for a while that was the best estimation of the phone’s release that we had to go on. Now the Black’s available for pre-order and is being advertised by carriers, but some conflicting information has us wondering just when the Optimus Black will finally go up for sale.
For a while, the Black was tipped for a March release date in Europe, though that’s now come and gone. Currently, the phone’s up for pre-order with Expansys, giving it the most optimistic release date of next Monday, April 18. That’s surprising, since we would expect carriers to start offering the Optimus Black around the same time, but T-Mobile UK is now saying that the smartphone won’t be available until sometime in May.
We’ll know whether or not that April 18 release date is accurate in just a few days, but even if it fizzles, it seems certain at this point that the Black will arrive within the next month. We haven’t heard of any plans yet to make the smartphone available in the US with compatible 3G frequencies.
