Today HTC has unveiled the latest version of HTC Sense first seen on the EVO 3D for Sprint. This time it’s for the HTC Sensation and Sensation 4G, previously know as the Pyramid. Here’s what’s new about Sense 3.0

New Lock Screen

On most devices, the lock screen is a bit of dead space. It doesn’t provide much utility, which HTC is aiming to change in Sense 3.0. Not only can you quickly launch your favorite apps directly from the home screen, but you can choose weather to show weather, new messages, photos, or other live bits of information.

New Home Screen

The home screens now feature more eye candy by letting you flip through your home screens in 3D view, similar to the home screen of the HTC Flyer tablet. Not only that, but most of the widgets have been redone. The Weather widget, for example, features updated animations and a new layout.

New Apps

Those of you that use an HTC Android device know that all stock programs are skinned with elements of eye candy and improved functionality. In Sense 3.0, it looks like these programs have underwent a refresh. For example, the email app now takes advantages of the increase number of pixels of the screen to show more information, such as a preview of emails, when looking at your inbox.

HTC Watch

HTC is getting into digital content distribution with movies through HTC Watch. HTC Watch is “an application and service that puts an entire library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows right at your fingertips, letting people discover the latest video content in an easy and visually engaging way. HTC Watch uses progressive download technology that makes it possible to watch videos without waiting for a huge file to finish downloading”.

What Else?

HTC likes to be “quietly brilliant” as their slogan implies, so expect to see a lot of little goodies throughout the operating system on HTC Sense 3.0 devices. We’ll be sure to give you a comprehensive rundown of exactly what’s new in Sense 3.0 once we get our mits on one of these new devices.
