HTC to Launch HTC Listen and HTC Read Stores?
You might have noticed that HTC launched HTC Watch today, which is their own version of a digital download store for movies that allows you to both rent and buy movies. It’s fully integrated into HTC Sense with widgets and a dedicated program. Not only that, but purchases made through HTC Watch will work across multiple HTC devices, like the Flyer tablet.
It would be logical, then, that HTC would extend this model to other stores so that they can have their own ecosystem of digital content. Today HTC applied for trademarks on the terms “HTC Read” and “HTC Listen”, which implies that in the near future we could see an HTC eBook store, and even a music service (could they beat Google in launching an Android music offering like iTunes?). Currently HTC devices have a built in eReader application, plus a widget, but they rely on Kobo’s book store.
