Samsung Droid Charge Misses Launch; Accessories Now In Stores
A leaked copy of what purported to be Verizon’s schedule for upcoming phone releases showed up last week, putting Samsung’s Droid Charge up for sale yesterday. As you can guess by now, that hasn’t exactly happened. While we await the Charge to finally make its retail debut, its accessories are starting to show up in advance, with the Charge’s multimedia dock already on store shelves.
It’s too early to say if that whole leaked timetable is bogus or not, but we should consider at least that it was marked “subject to change”, and listed releases all the way back through mid-March. If the list hasn’t been updated since before even then, there’s a good chance that at least some of the farther-out dates would shift around a bit.
Verizon hasn’t publicly announced an official release date or price point for the Charge, but another leaked document claims that an on-contract Droid Charge will set you back $300, making it another Verizon LTE phone to fetch a premium price. Under the hood, it’s basically a Galaxy S, which doesn’t really seem to justify the extra cost, even with a larger screen. Here’s hoping that Verizon comes out with a formal announcement soon, finally pinning down the Charge’s release date and hopefully proving that leaked price data incorrect.
