Motorola Defy Free on T-Mobile Through Thursday, Web-Only

The only thing worse than breaking a smartphone is breaking an expensive smartphone. If you need one that will hold up to some abuse, and want to get a good deal so if something goes wrong you’re not facing huge losses, then T-Mobile may have just the offer for you, giving away the Motorola Defy for free with contract through the end of tomorrow.

A little bit of water should’t hurt the Defy, and even the dustiest environment won’t clog it up, giving you some leeway to be a bit more cavalier in how you treat your phone (though a nice, solid case certainly wouldn’t hurt things any). You’ll also find an anti-scratch screen protecting the 3.7-inch WVGA display. The smartphone’s hardware specs show the Defy beginning to age, but an 800MHz CPU with 512MB RAM hardly makes for an underpowered Android.

The Defy was never a super-expensive phone, launching for just around $100, but it’s price has fluctuated since then, and free is still free. T-Mobile has tweeted that this discounted offer is running through tomorrow night at 10pm Pacific time. To take advantage of it, you’ll need to place your order online.
