HP Pre 3 Snapped On Verizon’s Network
Earlier today we got a chance to check out a mysterious new HP Palm smartphone, a keyboardless slate that’s supposedly the HP Stingray. Fresh from the same source who provided that intriguing pic comes something new for the Pre 3, a shot of the phone running on Verizon’s network.
Unlike the Stingray, we know for sure that the Pre 3 – previously identified as the Mantaray – is definitely on its way to market. HP has gone official with the Pre 3’s specs, including a 1.4GHz processor that should set a high-water mark for webOS smartphone performance. Combined with a larger screen than the Pre 2 (from 3.1 to 3.6 inches), the Pre 3 is set to be a solid update over its predecessor.
While the Pre 2 came in different CDMA and GSM versions, the Pre 3 will supposedly be an all-in-one world phone capable of navigating 3G bands on both types of networks. While that would put it in the running for coming out on Verizon in the States, as the Pre 2 did, there had yet to be any confirmation that this arrangement was be worked out.
While this new image clearly shows the Pre 3 running on VZW, it’s a fry cry from definitive proof that the carrier will sell the phone once it’s available; HP could have been running network compatibility tests when the pic was snapped. For now, though, it’s the strongest indication of where the phone will land that we’ve yet seen.
