Samsung Gem Pics Leak In Advance Of Verizon Release


Yesterday we spotted Samsung’s Gem hiding on Verizon’s website, getting us thinking that the phone’s release would be imminent. It could still be coming out any day now; for now, some new pictures of the Android phone have turned up, showing it off with full Verizon badging.

While you can already grab the Gem through Alltel or Cellular South, Verizon will be the smartphone’s major-carrier launch. It’s about darn time, too, since the phone has been lurking around since late last summer. That makes the hardware a little stale by today’s standards, but that should also mean you’ll be able to pick up a Gem for a song.

Admittedly, the Gem’s design is a little off-kilter, with its reliance on gem-cut profiles (or is that Superman logos?) for its trackpad and rear camera, but then again, do you really want a phone that looks like everyone else’s?

Look for Verizon to start selling the Gem in the very near future; in the meantime, you can check out what it’ll look like once it arrives:
