In this video we exhibit the hardware of the new Android Gingerbread powered XPERIA Arc. The device has similar hardware to other Gingerbread Androids with a few improvements coming from Sony’s TV and camera lines. This particular device is the international unlocked version (LT15i) and will likely differ slightly from the North American version (LT15a).

The XPERIA Arc gets it’s computing power from a single core 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 second generation processor along with 512MB of ROM (~300MB accessible) and 512MB of RAM. The device also comes with an 8GB microSD card which is expandable up to 32GBs.

The screen is 4.2 inches (106.7mm) and operating at FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution. The Mobile Bravia Engine LCD is underneath a glass multi-touch capacitive digitizer. The cellular radios consist of quad-band GSM in addition to dual-band UMTS 900/2100. When the North American version is released in the coming months, it will be able to connect to the 850/1900/2100 3G bands. The other radios included are Wi-Fi b/g/n, aGPS, an FM receiver, and Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR. The XPERIA Arc sensors consist of a proximity sensor, digital compass, light sensor, and accelerometer. The ports include a microUSB 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the side. The camera, which has an LED flash, takes still photos up to 8 megapixels and can record video at 720p HD. Sony Ericsson has incorporated the Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor into the camera. In comparison to other smartphone camera sensors, the Exmor R CMOS sensor enhances images immensely, especially in low light situations.

The weight and dimensions of the XPERIA Arc are 117g (4.1oz) and 63 x 125 x 8.7mm (2.5 x 4.9 x 0.34in). Bringing all this great hardware to life is the capacious 1500mAh lithium polymer battery which Sony Ericsson claims should provide around 7 hours of talk and 400 hours of standby time.

Stay tuned for the software and full review coming up next. If you missed it check out the unboxing.
