Samsung Droid Charge Shows Off New Red Eye
Ever since we saw a screenshot of a purported Verizon computer, we were pretty sure that Samsung’s 4G LTE smartphone would be joining the Droid lineup as the Samsung Droid Charge. Now, with this product photo showing off a restyled Droid “red eye,” that branding is all but confirmed. It’s somewhat interesting that the eye is being used to market a non-Motorola device, as we’d previously only seen it on that manufacturer’s handsets — neither the Droid Incredible nor the Droid Eris from HTC were publicized with the eye.
Introduced without a brand name at CES alongside the Thunderbolt, Revolution, and Droid Bionic, the Droid Charge (codename: Stealth-V, model number: SCH-i510) sports nearly the same specs as the Galaxy S, however it steps up the screen size to 4.3 inches and, of course, adds 4G LTE compatibility. Presumably this model will overlap somewhat with the Galaxy S II variant on Verizon, although that phone offers a dual-core processor, slimmer profile, and the new, hub-based version of TouchWiz.
