Microsoft Updates On Windows Phone 7 NoDo Update

You must have probably heard reports that Microsoft has started rolling out the NoDo update for Windows Phone 7 on Tuesday and Eric Hautala — General Manager, Customer Experience Engineering with Microsoft — made a blog post shedding some light on the progress.

As it was initially reported, the NoDo update is rolling out for unlocked smartphones first, and that roll-out, as with all others, is done in stages. Only “open market” Windows Phones around the world are being sent out the update flag so you should receive yours soon (if you haven’t already) in case you own such a smartphone.

Microsoft delivers this update, too, “in batches, ramping up gradually to help ensure the process is as problem-free as possible. (And so far, the copy and paste update is proceeding smoothly)”. In order to help users better understand what exactly is going on with their update and when to expect the notification, there’s a “Where’s my phone update?” site now up courtesy of Redmond. It will be updated weekly to reflect the progress of the roll-out process. Check it out to see when NoDo is going to hit your smartphone. Unfortunately, as you will discover, some carriers are still testing the pre-NoDo update so this whole process might take a while if you’re unlucky.
