Angry Birds Rio Arriving on Symbian and webOS April 8

Angry Birds Rio has already dropped for the iPhone and Android (finding a new home in Amazon’s nascent Appstore), giving fans of the series 60 new levels to face up against. That’s well and good for users of those systems, but what if your smartphone choice is a little less mainstream? Both Symbian^3 and webOS devices will be able to join in on the fun soon enough, as Rio is set to arrive for them on April 8.

While keeping to the same game mechanics that have made the series a hit with smartphone gamers, Rio mixes up a bit with the introduction of new characters, new settings, and a (temporary) departure for the birds’ porcine nemeses.

While the iPhone version of the game is just $1.29, and the Android copy about a buck (if you hurry you can still pick up the Android edition for free at the Amazon Appstore), expect to pay a little more once the game arrives at the Ovi Store and Palm App Catalog; current versions of Angry Birds fetch $2 on Symbian^3 and webOS platforms, and Rio is likely to follow suit.

If all this Angry Birds Rio action gets you interested in checking out the film (and isn’t that the point?), Rio hits theaters on April 15.
