Waze for Android Updated
Waze is one of my favorite driving apps. It differs from Google Maps Navigation and CoPilot Live in that the maps are all crowd-sourced by people like you and I who are actually driving on the roads.
What’s more, as more users drive with the app open the more valuable the data is to all the others who follow behind. Traffic conditions are shared automatically, you can report hazards, construction, and even speed traps to warn other users, and Waze has even made a game out of it.
Earlier today they released an update, bringing Waze to version 2.2. This version introduces a new reporting menu with voice-recording functionality (no more trying to type in a note while you’re driving, now you can use your voice), provides voice alerts for hazards and heavy traffic ahead, lets users thank others for their reports, improves the route information screen, adjusts the map zoom-level based on your driving speed, simplifies the interface for adding Home and Work locations, greatly improves the vocal directions for turns and highway exits, and includes the obligatory “bug fixes” and performance optimizations.
