T-Mobile’s Dual-Core LG G2x Confirmed for CTIA Debut

LG’s Optimus 2X made a name for itself when announced as the first dual-core smartphone late last year. The Tegra 2-powered handset has since been waiting for its release, which it’s finally set to make this month in Europe. We’ve seen evidence that the phone is likely coming to T-Mobile in the US as the carrier’s G2x. Not that looks like a certainty, as we’ve spotted a couple displays at CTIA promoting the model.

It’s a bit sad that since the 2X was announced in December, its dual-core CPU no longer seems like the achievement it did then. After all, now we’re looking at phones with dual-cores as well as 3D displays, so T-Mobile had better hustle to get the G2x out in the market while interests are still piqued. We’ve heard rumors indicating the phone may get a late April release.

We haven’t heard anything from T-Mobile regarding the G2x’s capabilities, so we’re assuming they’re largely unchanged from the Optimus 2X. That means the G2x should have a 4-inch WVGA display, 8-megapixel main camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3-megapixel front-facer for video chat, and 8GB of internal storage.

We expect T-Mobile to formally announce the G2x shortly.
