Sprint to Unveil Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D at CTIA? [Update]
Update: Adding credence to the rumor of Sprint getting the Nexus S, Sprint has a page located at now.sprint.com/nexus. Spring only puts up these sorts of pages for real device.
CTIA is just around the corner, and we’ll be there come later this month. Sprint has an event planned where they’re likely to unveil some new products, including two new phones, if an Engadget Tipster is to believed. First up we have a WiMax-capable version of the Nexus S, which would be pretty exciting since we really like the Nexus S, and the inclusion of WiMax 4G will make it even better. We saw the Nexus S recently pass the FCC with AT&T 3G bands, which implies to us that there will soon be a Nexus S available unlocked that’ll work on AT&T, as was the case with the second version of the Nexus One. If Sprint is also to have a Nexus S, that’ll make for a total of three carriers that carry the device in the US (right now it only works on T-Mobile).
Then we have a potential release of the HTC EVO 4G successor, the EVO 3D. For Sprint, the EVO was a huge win…it was the first WiMax-capable smartphone in the United States, and even to this day, the EVO is a big seller and a popular device. Bringing 3D to the table would extend the popularity of the EVO brand, but we’re wondering if they’ll be able to maintain the same 4.3″ screen size and still include 3D technology.
