iPhone 5 Entering Trial Production With a 4 Inch Screen?

As early as this may be, the iPhone 5 rumors haven’t stopped being news lately. This time, the China Times is reporting that Foxconn has already begun to produce the first trial version of the next generation iPhone. Among the good news, it seems that Apple has figured out a way to fit a 4 inch screen inside the current iPhone 4 chasis, and yeah, NFC also seems to be included as part of the experiment. Among the bad news, there’s been a lot of talk regarding the device being pushed to be released until Q3/2011, and not in the usual Q2 WWDC event in June.

Sadly, the push in release date makes some sense given Apple has recently released the iPhone 4 to Verizon customers, and there’s still no white iPhone 4 to brag about. Releasing the next generation iPhone just months after both these releases would definitely leave a lot of unhappy Apple customers. We’re still not sure about how Apple plans to include a larger screen on an already small design, but this could mean that iOS 5 will be enhanced to support multiple screen resolutions, and that we probably will see the home button disappear. NFC also makes a lot of sense, but we don’t see it going beyond an experiment until Apple figures out how to make some money out of it.

No word on 4G support yet, and judging by how Apple usually releases next generation devices, our biggest bet is that we won’t see 4G if they do invest in a massive overhaul of their new device. If the design changes are minor, they’ll most likely fit it in. All we need now is a drunk Apple employee in a bar to confirm the rumors =D.
