HTC EVO 4G HDMI Screen Mirroring At Last

Remember when we first got wind of the HTC EVO 4G specs and started to drool over the possibility of HDMI-out? Watching YouTube,, and video content on our big-screen through our smartphone. That was to have been geek Nirvana!

Alas, it wasn’t everything that we’d hoped. The EVO’s HDMI was limited to video playback only — you couldn’t view your photos, play games, surf the web, or anything like that. Think that’s just unacceptable? So did TeamWin, a group a developers who put together a solution that unlocks full HDMI mirroring. What’s “HDMI mirroring” you ask? Simply put, anything that you see on your phone, you can see on your TV (or other HDMI device) — thanks to their solution.

Unfortunately, it’s not just a simple install. The solution, called HDMwIn, requires that you have rooted your phone and have applied a custom kernel before it will unlock all the HDMI goodness.

If you’re running a custom ROM such as CyanogenMod, you will likely brush this off as trivial, but for the “average user” these two requirements might be a game-stopper.

All we need now is AmazonePrime and Netflix streaming…
