Nokia Taking E7 Pre-Orders For US, Shipping Phone Early April
Nokia continues to grab our attention today as the company has placed its long-awaited E7 smartphone up on its site for pre-order for US customers (international shipments began a month ago).
The company announced the E7 Communicator back in September, later moving the phone’s retail availability back from December to “early 2011”. While we could split hairs over its definition of “early”, it now looks like the phone will finally come out in the States in about a month.
Most eyes are on Nokia’s future WP7 developments, but don’t let that lead you to dismiss the Symbian models the company’s still releasing. The E7 has several features that should help inspire interest in it, like its ClearBlack Display that combines an AMOLED screen with a polarized filter to enhance contrast. Also look for excellent frequency band support, letting the phone reach 3G HSDPA speeds with both T-Mobile and AT&T.
Amazon first put the phone up for pre-order back in December, at nearly $700. Nokia isn’t offering any breaks on that price through its direct sales, so hold off for the chance of carrier subsidies if you’d rather not break the bank. While Amazon still doesn’t have an expected date for the phone’s availability, Nokia advises the E7 will be available at the “beginning of April 2011”.
