Microsoft: Only 100 Users Experience WP7 Update Issues

After pulling the Windows Phone 7 update for Samsung devices and resuming the roll-out process, some users still reported problems while trying to apply the NoDo prerequisite platform refresh.

Microsoft said that only 100 users were reporting problems worldwide and, through their own Michael Stroh, declared that Redmond has figured out and issued a workaround. The 800705b4, according to Microsoft, could be fixed by users removing all media and erasing all content from their smartphones prior to applying the update. We really hope that the 100 number is a real one as many people are rather fond of their smartphone media library all tagged and with proper album arts.

While, nevertheless, you can easily redownload tracks from Zune, it’s a real annoyance for people having their own, previously purchased music inside the library. Backing up prior erasing is highly recommended by Microsoft — we say it’s a must if you want to have your media back.

Hopefully now everyone will be able to apply the pre-NoDo update so we can focus on the actual Copy/Paste update everyone is expecting to be deployed next week!
