iOS 4.3 To Be Released March 11th, Personal Hotspot Included

Well the iPad 2 event is currently in its way, and even though we don’t really cover tablets here, you’ll be happy to know that details on iOS 4.3 are currently already being talked about.

iOS 4 3 2

To start, iOS 4.3 will bring the Personal Hotspot feature that many iPhone 4 owners were expecting on AT&T, sadly it’ll only work on the iPhone 4. Aside from that it seems that Apple will enhance performance with the Safari browser by adopting the Nitro JavaScript Engine. Another cool feature currently being mentioned is enhanced sharing options for AirPlay. In the past you could only stream limited video services to your Apple TV through AirPlay, but now you can also stream Photo Slide shows, and App Store third party applications will also be allowed to use AirPlay. A major overdue improvement is getting iTunes home sharing to work with iOS devices, which if we understood correctly, will now allow you to play tracks on your iPhone that currently reside on your Mac or PC through Wi-Fi.

We did see Photo Booth being demoed on the iPad 2 during the event, but sadly we’re still uncertain if it’ll also make the iPhone when the update becomes available. Given the iPhone 4 has a front facing FaceTime camera, let’s call it a possibility.

iOS 4 3 3

iOS 4.3 will be released on March 11th, and it’ll work on the GSM version of the iPhone, which we assume includes both the iPhone 4 and 3GS. It’ll also support the current generation iPod Touch and also the 3rd Generation. Not sure what to expect for the iPhone 3G though, we’ll keep you posted. Sorry iPhone 3G owners, Apple’s press release is live and it seems your update crusade ends here.
