Gingerbread for HTC Desire, HD, Z, & Incredible S Coming this Spring

Just when Samsung is finally getting Android 2.2 Froyo to their smartphones, HTC went and announced that many of its recent phones will be getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the Spring.

The devices in question range from the Desire and Desire HD to the Desire Z and the newer Incredible S.

Many of you know that the HTC Desire Z and the T-Mobile G2 are essentially the same phone, the latter without HTC’s Sense UI. No mention was made whether or not an official Gingerbread update would be made available for the G2 at the same time — or ever. We’ll have to wait for T-Mobile to answer that question in the future.

We also learned that HTC is expected to be replacing the Desire HD later in 2011. The new phone should have a dual-core processor and some believe it will be codenamed the HTC Pyramid.
