Gmail 2.3.4 for Android Update Pulled from Market Pending Fixes

A few days ago we reported that Google released a minor update to their Android Gmail app. List most minor updates this included bug fixes and minor functionality improvements (including better word selection when installed on Gingerbread).

Unfortunately, the update had unintended consequences for some users, including crashes, freezes, and being unable to use the app. Google quickly pulled the update from the Market to ensure no one else would have those problems.

Also, please note that this is Gmail 2.3.4 — not Android 2.3.4 — just to prevent any possible confusion between the two.

UPDATE: Google has since identified the problem and posted an update which “fixes a crash on launch seen in version 2.3.4 for certain devices”. They’re calling it 2.3.4.1 and it’s available to download now.
