First Look at Honeycomb on the Nexus One (Video)
Not long ago we showed off “Honeybread”, a theme for CM7 that looks a lot like Android Honeycomb. It wasn’t really Honeycomb, but it did look very similar.
Now it’s hit the Nexus One, and we caught it on video. Take a look!
To start things off, I downloaded the ROM from XDA-Developers to my sdcard. Once complete I rebooted into recovery and performed a full backup (so I co revert later), then did a full wipe/factory data reset. From that point all that was left was to flash the .zip and reboot.
Since this is a port from the Honeycomb SDK the stock “Android” boot logo is displayed. The first boot was surprisingly fast, and before I knew it I was looking at the Honeycomb screen, just like we’ve seen in videos of the Motorola XOOM tablet.
This is just a port, so some important things aren’t working yet. Things like Wi-Fi, the phone, and audio, even the app drawer doesn’t layout properly. Things are generally “laggy” due to lack of drivers and optimizations for the Nexus One.
Could you use this as your daily driver? Currently, no way. This i simply a proof of concept that it can be done. Now that it was, it’s really only a matter of time before someone actually does make a fully functional ROM.
