Thunderbolt Back On For Feb 24? Maybe Feb 28? Ever Coming Out?
We’re starting to wonder if anyone actually knows when the HTC Thunderbolt will be available on Verizon, or if it’s just blind guesswork at this point. Maybe if we had a psychic octopus we could put the matter to rest, but for now we can only update you on the latest rumors we catch wind of. Today we both saw evidence pointing to a February 24 release, as well as heard a rumor from a supposedly reliable source that the release would be pushed back to the 28th.
February 24 was really starting to look plausible, but then yesterday we saw a Best Buy computer screenshot that had the HTC Thunderbolt down for the 21st. Today Phandroid was tipped off to a Verizon purchase order, used by its stores to manage their inventory, requesting a load of Thunderbolts scheduled for delivery on February 23. Unless the store was hoping on a first-thing-in-the-morning package, that would put the first day of the phone’s availability back on the 24th.
Then again, Android Guys has a contact with Verizon info, one they seem to place a good deal of faith in, who says that the 24th is a wash and the phone won’t be out until the 28th. While delays always suck, this would make a ton of sense, as Skype Mobile with video isn’t set to be available until February 28, anyway. If waiting a few more days means the phone has a full software package at the time of its release, bring on the wait! There’s just something wrong about dropping a nice chunk of change on a brand-new phone, only to have to update its software a few days later.
