HTC Announces Wildfire S Midrange Android Handset

After giving you an early look at what we thought would be the Wildfire 2, the “Wildfire S” made its debut today at Mobile World Congress. As thought, the new Wildfire is a midrange (perhaps low-end comparably) Android phone with a single core Qualcomm 600MHz CPU matted to 512MB of RAM and ROM. The display is unchanged at 3.2″ and HVGA 480×320 resolution. The camera on the rear can take photos at 5MP but can’t record in HD resolution for video. It’s running an updated version of Sense UI which brings minor changes to the experience. They’ve made it pretty easy to tag and share photos through the camera application with a new interface. Powering the device is a 1230mAh battery. Look for the Wildfire S to land in Q2 in Europe. It’ll come in three colors: purple, black, and silver.
