Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Pro Gets Official [Update]

Now this is about time. It was such an irony to see that the initial Windows Mobile line of Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones sported a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but most if not all their Android offerings didn’t. Surely the X10 Mini Pro was the exception, but who’s after a mini these days huh? Anyways, today’s MWC Sony Ericsson event has seen the official release of the Xperia Pro. It’s similar in specs to the Xperia Neo we recently mentioned, carrying Android’s Gingerbread OS, HD video recording, HDMI support, their famous Bravia Engine, Exmor R for mobile, and a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. I’m honestly struck by the small size of those keys, but it could also be that the device is gigantic.

Update More specs are live. It’ll be sporting a decent sized 3.7 inch screen with a weird 854 x 480 resolution which is powered by their famous Bravia graphics engine. It’ll run on a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. Aside from the 8 Megapixel camera we already mentioned, it’ll also have a 2 megapixel front facing camera for video chats. On a cool note, SE will release the device in silver, red and black. Now that I see SE’s official images, I’ll withdraw my comments on the size of the keys on that QWERTY. The device is stunning overall in looks, but sadly the specs are last year’s hardware.
