First Windows Phone 7 Update Postponed to March 8?

The first Windows Phone 7 update which will bring Copy / Paste functionality among others was rumored for a February 7 release which never happened. Microsoft never actually confirmed nor hinted an exact release date but always officially referred to “early 2011”.

Multiple sources, including a European carrier insider, have confirmed Neowin that the update has been postponed in the last minute due to some changes made by Microsoft and/or OEMs. And because testing is in order before the roll-out process, the new (rumored) release date for availability is, as of now, March 8. According to hear-say, Microsoft is set to officially unveil the date at which the platform refresh will be made available at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year.

We can’t help but wonder whether this update has anything to do with the Dell Venue Pro being postponed in the UK (or vice versa). If you remember, the Dell Venue Pro was delayed for February due to Microsoft (MMS problems) and recently it got delayed again to the beginning of March, which so far falls pretty well into place — even though this time we heard no details regarding the reason of the delay.
