New HTC Sense for Android Features Redesigned App Tray?
Recently we saw a new device appear in an HTC commercial which might be the Wildfire 2, to debut perhaps at Mobile World Congress. We also noticed that the phone showed some changes to HTC’s Android Sense interface: the button to the left of phone had a grid icon, while there were some transparency to the Google widget.
We just got a tip from someone claiming to have seen the HTC Saga, and he confirms that there are changes to Sense, at least in the application tray, for upcoming devices.
Here’s what he told us. The new application tray will be structured much like Email, or People, with a slider along the bottom to flip between different categories. The categories will be All, Favorites, and Downloaded. Favorites will presumably be editable, so that you can keep your most-used apps within easy reach.
According to our tipster, the widgets will be mostly unchanged, but he mentioned a new one for Plurk. Also, he mentioned that the Saga was running Android 2.2.1. We’re not sure if HTC is skipping Gingerbread for their next round of devices, or if the software was just an early ROM. Finally, he said that the camera on the HTC Saga is 5MP (or, at least, the software showed this value), making us think that perhaps the device isn’t HTC’s upcoming flagship, but perhaps a midrange device (current high end HTC phones have an 8MP shooter).
