Froyo on AT&T Captivate Shown on Support Page


We don’t hold any punches when it comes to U.S. versions of Samsung’s Galaxy S series phones having such a hard time getting Android 2.2 Froyo out to it’s devices. Samsung released the Galaxy S with Android 2.1 Eclair several months ago — right before Froyo was released. They promised owners a quick upgrade to Froyo. International users (and some U.S. users) have seen Froyo updates to their Galaxy S, but the “big 4” have seen major delays.

In their defense, Samsung says the updates are ready, it’s the carriers that are dragging their feet. All that aside, AT&T just went and published something a little embarrassing on their support site.

Say you have an AT&T Samsung Captivate and you want to find out what version of Android you’re running. It’s pretty easy: you go to settings, About phone, and look at your Android version. It’s the same on the Captivate. But AT&T went the extra-mile on their support site! They included screen-shots to help you find your version. Screen-shots that show the phone running Android 2.2 Froyo.

Does this mean the person responsible for screen shots is testing the Froyo update on their phone? If so, does it mean that end-users may start to see the same update rolled out to their phones in the near future?
