Get Your Hourly Weather Forecast via Google Search

Since Google is a search engine, when you search for “weather” you’d expect to get a list of links pertaining to “weather”. That’s fine, but what you’re probably looking for is a report of the current weather for your area, or possibly the forecast for the next few days. That’s what the engineers over at Google thought, too!

Starting yesterday, if you surf to on your iPhone or Android, you’ll see the current weather for your location, an hourly forecast slider, and what the weather forecast is for the upcoming four days — no app needed! You’re also able to choose a different location if you’d like the same information for another part of the world. If that’s not what you were after, the normal search results are still listed below the new “weather experience”.

There are some limitations, however. Currently the new “weather experience” is available only in English and you have to be using a current iPhone or Android OS. If you want local information to be displayed you have to allow your browser access to your location, and for some strange reason, if you search for “weather” from the browser bar you don’t get the new experience — you have to go to then search for “weather”.

Even still, I’m impressed with how Google is starting to make their search results richer and more useful! Try it out and let us know what you think of the new weather search experience in the comments below!
