Sony eBook Reader App for Android

I guess it had to be the chicken before the egg. Physical eBook readers had to pick up in popularity before eBooks did. Now Amazon, B&N, and Sony all have physical eBook readers, most featuring e-ink, others sporting full-color screens. Later, apps were released that allowed for reading the eBooks on smartphones. Up until recently only Sony was left out of the eBook reader app race — not so any more.

Reader is Sony’s new app for reading their proprietary eBooks on your smartphone. Just like the Amazon and B&N apps, Sony’s reader lets you keep your reading position and bookmarks, in sync, so you can pick up on one device where you left off reading on another.

I don’t know if anyone else sees the irony though: Sony’s reader app requires Android 2.2+, the majority of Sony’s own Android devices aren’t running 2.2, nor will they ever, according to previous reports.
