Nokia N9 to Launch with Intel Atom Processor?
Nokia has a long road ahead if they want to be a household name in smartphones in the US. With the canceled X7, we’re not left with much in the Nokia pipeline except for the sleek MeeGo-powered N9, which has been met with acclaim by those that have reviewed it. Another company trying to make inroads in the smartphone arena is Intel, which has yet to crack the all important smart device CPU market, now monopolized by Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. So wouldn’t it make sense for these two smartphone underdogs to work together in bringing a product to market?
A Finnish magazine is claiming that the N9 could be officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress with an Intel Moorestown (or perhaps Medfield) Atom 1.2GHz chip. If true, this would be a boon for Nokia, and could potentially usher in the era of Intel-powered smartphones.
