“HTC Sensation:” MWC-Bound Smartphone?
HTC has been busy at the European trademark office lately, applying for the likely smartphone mark “HTC Sensation” just days after that HTC Passion filing — which could possibly be either a Sense replacement or a new UI for the company’s upcoming tablet(s). “Sensation” was filed out of Germany, as are the majority of the manufacturer’s European filings — and there are not many of them. HTC filed for just a single trademark in Europe last year, HTC Hero, back in March. Out of the 18 marks it registered in 2009, every single one resulted in commercial use, either as a product, service, or marketing campaign.
With Barcelona’s Mobile World Conference around the corner, we think that it’s fairly likely Sensation could get announced as early as next month — HTC doesn’t have any other unused European trademarks at this point (or American ones, for that matter) other than Sensation and Passion. Could this be the branding for that button-less Android handset which keeps popping up? Possibly, but we’re almost certain that HTC has more than one device to launch at MWC, especially if it wants to keep up the Joneses.
