Next Android Version to be Called Ice Cream Sandwich

As far as Android version codenames go we’ve had Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread. Honeycomb has been announced for tablets, but what’s next?

Everyone has been assuming that the next version of Android will be “Ice Cream”, but that could lead to confusion with “Frozen Yogurt”.

Luckily, Google’s Andy Rubin cleared everything up when talking with TechCrunch. Apparently the next version of Android will be called “Ice Cream Sandwich”, not simply “Ice Cream”. We still don’t know what version number will accompany this build of Android, but some are guessing that it will be either 2.4 (the smartphone version following Gingerbread’s 2.3), or 3.1 (following Honeycomb’s 3.0 version number).

In any case, we’re going to guess that the version after that will be “Jellybean”. Anyone care to venture a guess at a dessert that starts with “K”?
