NVIDIA Prepares Own Tegra Zone Android Game Market
NVIDIA is preparing its own game market for smartphones powered by its own chips and running Google’s Android mobile platform. With the Tegra2 chip being most likely the future default for upcoming Android smartphones, the chip manufacturer is preparing to bring the Tegra Zone to the Android Market. It will feature “game reviews, high-res screenshots, HD video trailers, gameplay videos, and behind-the-scenes footage” according to NVIDIA and it will allow users to discover enhanced games for their smartphones. Whether it is appropriate or not to have two Markets is still a subject for debate but NVIDIA surely wants to differentiate the enhanced games that need and take advantage of its chips from the rest available in the Market.
The label says “coming soon to the Android Market” and there are already four titles listed as teasers: Dungeon Defenders, Fruit Ninja HD, Back Breaker THD and Monster Madness. According to AndroidCentral, Tegra Zone will offer some benefits for game developers over the Android Market with reference to the 50MB app limit as well as offering more refined and premium catalogue.
