We took a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc yesterday thanks to a Russian website that ran a couple of pictures and specs of the upcoming smartphone and now Sony Ericsson has made it official.

The super slim (only 8.7mm at its thinnest part) Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc — the first of a new generation of Xperia smartphones — will be running the latest version of Google’s mobile platform, Android Gingerbread. It sports a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor, 4.2-inch TFT Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine running FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution protected by shatter proof sheet on scratch-resistant mineral glass, 512 MB internal memory, 8GB microSD card supplied, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA support, HDMI port, 8.1-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R™ capable of recording 720p video and a 1,500mAh battery.

As far as availability is concerned, the Xperia Arc will hit the markets globally, including the Japanese market, in the first quarter of 2011, being available in two flavors: Midnight Blue and Misty Silver. No information related to pricing has been revealed yet.
