Skype To Acquire Qik

Two of the coolest smartphone applications for video broadcasting and voice-over-IP uses have always been Qik and Skype. Well, Skype has just made a deal to aquire Qik. Skype has never been very good at video calls on mobile devices, but Qik has always had some great video broadcasting features. Heck, we used Qik to live-broadcast the Sprint Palm Pre launch event using a Windows Mobile Palm Treo Pro back in 2009. It even let our viewers ask us questions in real time. Anyway, hopefully Skype will keep a lot of the cool Qik features around while also integrating better video communications support into their primary product.
