LG Unveils LG Optimus Black, “World’s Thinnest Smartphone”
LG has taken the wraps off of its high-end LG Optimus Black, a 9.2-millimeter thick, Android 2.2 Froyo-powered handset that it’s calling the world’s thinnest smartphone. Highlighted by an exceptionally bright, four-inch, 700 nit NOVA display (seems to be a proprietary LG LCD technology) and two-megapixel front-facing camera, Black weighs just 109 grams and features Wi-Fi Direct technology for device-to-device transfers. Unfortunately, LG has made no mention of processor, main camera resolution, or RAM/storage capacity; the only other info worth passing on is that a Gingerbread upgrade has already been promised. Expect a global rollout in the broad window of “first-half 2011,” with price to be determined.
