HTC Inspire 4G Coming to Telus Canada, Says HTC
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering that we’d seen its Desire HD doppelganger flash the carrier’s logo during bootup in a leaked photo, but HTC has let it slip that the HTC Inspire 4G will be coming to Canada’s Telus alongside AT&T in the US. Thanks to an Inspire 4G support document already live on HTC’s site, we see under the network section after the listed supported bands that they are meant “for AT&T and Telus” Since other Canadian carriers besides Telus operate the same WCDMA Bands II and V (850MHz and 1900MHz) as AT&T, we can be pretty sure this means that Inspire is coming to Telus, and is not just citing compatibility with its network. Combined with that image of what we thought was the Desire HD, we’d say that a trip up north is pretty likely for this device.
Announced by AT&T as part of its LTE kickoff initiative at CES — and leaked hours earlier — the 4.3-inch, Froyo-powered Inspire shares almost identical specs with the European Desire HD, including a 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, 768MB of RAM, 14.4Mbps HSPA data, and an eight-megapixel camera. Notably, Inspire bests Desire in the storage ROM category, 4GB to 1.5GB, although it may have dropped the 802.11n support: HTC and AT&T have conflicting listings. Finally, this model is the first US handset to feature the revamped Android version of Sense, with HTC’s proprietary mapping technology as well as themes and that handy fastboot option for quick start ups.
