Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G Rumored For January 9 Release
As the release of HTC’s EVO Shift 4G on Sprint nears, some of the lingering questions we’ve had about the handset are starting to be answered. It definitely looks like the “EVO Shift 4G” name has stuck, we learned what the phone will likely sell for, and now we’re hearing that the rumored release date for the device will be January 9.
The first accessories for the phone have started pouring into retail stores, confirming the EVO Shift 4G name. Since accessories are of no use without the phones to go with them, a release is likely imminent. The timing of the arrival of these accessories would fit very nicely with the 2011 CES that’s also almost upon us, especially if Sprint used the event to formally launch the smartphone.
As for the exact date of release, the Android Central tipster providing their EVO Shift 4G information names the 9th, but there’s no corroborating pictures of and Sprint documents to back up the claim. Still, there’s no reason to doubt the date is correct, as it coincides with our expected timeframe, right as the CES begins to wrap up.
We reported last week that the EVO Shift 4G will supposedly sell for $150 when on-contract, and $550 without.
