HTC Knight/Speedy Is Sprint’s HTC EVO Shift 4G?

There are several things we need to take into consideration here: first of all, we first heard about the HTC Knight coming to Sprint roughly a month ago; then the HTC Knight (aka HTC Speedy) was first referred to as the HTC Speedy in a context in which a battery cover accessory indicated a possible January 6, 2011 launch; last but not least, we heard HTC filed for trademark for the naming “HTC EVO Shift 4G” (after a similar trademark filing for “HTC EVO 4G Shift”).

Now that we’ve put the pieces together, Engadget’s tipster is certain that the trademark filing for “HTC EVO Shift 4G” actually refers to the HTC Knight/Speedy, a slide-out QWERTY device without the front-facing camera — aside of which the pieces of the puzzle seem to fall nicely into place. What do you think?
