Samsung Breaks World Record With 10M Galaxy S Units Sold
Samsung stated that it managed to achieve the 10 million units sold target by the end of year 2010 with reference to the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.
Without giving out specific numbers, the Korean manufacturer achieved the goal at the end of last year, after releasing the popular phone seven months before, back in June. At 9.3 million just before Christmas and at 7 million at the end of October, the Galaxy S managed to break the world record, being the first Android powered smartphone to ever sell 10 million units.
While still considerably behind Apple’s iPhone in terms of sales numbers, “as time goes on, based on their brand power and their relationship with telecommunication companies, their numbers should be increasing steadily” said analyst Young Park with Woori Investment & Securities Co. With the Nexus S already out and rumors of a Galaxy S follow-up out at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, Samsung might continue its winning streak and hopefully improve its device support, as still many Galaxy S smartphones run Android 2.1 Eclair.
