Promo Videos Coming Soon to Android Market?

Last month Google began allowing developers to include a promotional video clip along with their app submissions. Now you can finally watch those videos, though they’re not yet directly accessible in the Android Market.

Along with thumbnails and app descriptions, Google allows developers to link to a YouTube video showing off their creation. It’s an optional part of the app submission, but over 2000 videos have been linked to since Google began accepting them in November.

Considering the newly-reduced window during which you can return a purchased app, we think being able to see one in action before purchasing it is a fantastic addition to the Android Market. Right now, though, the only way to see these videos is via the Market API. You’ll need to visit a website that uses the API to index Android Market apps to check out these video previews, or use a third-party Market app that makes use of the same API.

Since the videos are now enabled, we bet it’s only a matter of time before they’re directly viewable from withing Android Market. For now, though, check out a few via one of the current work-arounds.
